Tennis fitness (or any sport) programming while we are off the courts or fields

Greeting tennis friends,

How things have changed in the past 3 weeks. We have gone from our usual lifestyle to having to be disciplined, socially apart, learning to deal with using less. Some of us are finding out our true strengths, priorities and possibly some of our weakness have come to the surface.;-) Regardless of where we are, we are learning and growing in ways we never imagined. Helping others, helping our children with school work, more video conferences, quieting our souls. We will all come out of this experience with new outlooks, more diverse strategies, stronger constitutions and hopefully a greater gratitude for the abundance of what we have in the US.

With that said, I know we all have a passion for tennis and our inability to play at this time as a physical and mental release but most of all genuine enjoyment may leave us low-spirited. I wanted to share with you all that I have put together specific tennis fitness programming you can perform at home or outside that runs the gambit from basic exercises to advanced exercises to keep you healthy during this hiatus. The last thing we want to happen after being off for a month or so, is getting back on the court, taking a crack at the tennis ball and end up with a strained rotator cuff, pulled hamstring or tweaked  trunk muscles! I have put together exercises I personally use to keep myself strong and healthy for tennis all year long. One can use minimal equipment with a tubing set and a band and/or any equipment you may own. I keep tubing sets in stock in my office for my clients at wholesale cost. The programs built are progressive in natural. You start with a base manageable number of exercises and then can built on those as you desire. Without our gyms open, I have designed creative ways for my clients to stay healthy with more on-line sessions and programs in print, picture and short video clips. Also, utilizing outdoor training using the clients equipment and the ability to use the recommended 6 foot social distancing. If you have an interest in staying healthy for your return to the courts, give me a jingle. I will get you set up with tubing and your first program. These are exercises you will be able to utilize for a lifetime of tennis playing. Many of you know Robynne Smith. We developed a solid foundational program for her after addressing some injuries, for her time in Florida this past February and forever! I have worked with quite a few others in my tennis community. Please feel free to view my web-site for my company’s details and you can like Marianne King’s Fitness for Life on FB for daily wellness tips. See attached photos for sample exercises with some of my clients.

I think we will have a much greater appreciate for social connections and tennis friendships after this. We shall recover Stronger, Better, Faster! Wait wasn’t that the Lee Majors in the 6 Million Dollar Man? 😉 We still need to keep some humor in our lives. Be well, be safe and my prayers are you and your family are able to come through this trial with new positive life perspectives. Faith pushes away fear.

Please feel free to pass on to your tennis friends and your tennis pros.

In Health,

Marianne King
